What do you love to listen to at Christmastime with your family?
I have to confess I started listening to Christmas music in early November. I love Christmas music! As a musician and performer, I usually begin thinking about Christmas music in July. As a consumer, I turn up the music in November. It gets me ready to start decorating and gets me in the mood to begin crossing gifts off my list.
When it comes to Christmas music, there's nothing like the classics to get me in the Christmas spirit!
Here's a playlist that will throw you back to the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Our parents, grandparents and great grandparents grew up listening to these artists and their wonderful songs.
As you listen, you can enjoy teaching your child about the wonder of Christmas with these special renditions of favorite Christmas carols.
Music: Christmas Classics Playlist
Music makes the season come to life! It's magical to experience the songs we love with the ones we love!
For more recently released music, here's a Christmas album I recorded both in upbeat and lullaby style. In 2012, I crowdfunded the recording project and watched it come to life with the support of fans, friends and family. It was a surreal experience! I recorded with Nashville producer, David Browning, who was the first producer to discover and record Katy Perry's music. He's now heading up an incredible new movement for artists and their fans at CrowdMusic!
I didn't know until this year that my distribution company put my album out on YouTube, but I'm so glad it's there so you can listen for free!
This playlist also features a song I released on Christmas day in 2017 -- It's a song of all the special things that make Christmas so meaningful to us.
More Christmas Music:
As much as I love Christmas music, I'm always ready to curl up with my littles under a cozy blanket with a good Christmas book!
Some of my favorite Christmas books are by Jan Brett. Her artwork is compelling. Her writing style is invigorating. Much of her story telling harkens back to Norse mythology or other far away myths and legends.
Brett's "Christmas Treasury" contains all of her stories for this beloved time of year.
For those who celebrate Christmas from a Christian worldview, our family favorite is Ann Voskamp's "Unwrapping the Greatest Gift: A Family Celebration of Christmas."
With gorgeous imagery, Voskamp traces the timeline of the coming of baby Jesus with stories from the Bible.
Christmas books lists are a wonderful way to bring joy to your home with the best books available!
All About Learning Press has put out my favorite book list of all time! A "Christmas Tree for Pyn" is included in the list. It has turned out to be at the very top of my children's book list. At first I didn't like the story at all, but it's one that has grown on me. Pyn's father dislikes Christmas. He won't let her put up a Christmas tree. During the course of the story, he has a change of heart. It's actually a very loving, beautiful story of how Christmas brings families closer together.
Here are several curated lists of wonderful Christmas stories to share with your family.
