Creative Keys: Nordic Adventures Books & Story Cards Bundle

A first-of-its-kind piano adventure, “Creative Keys: Nordic Adventures,” by Kathryn Brunner blends storytelling, multi-level music instruction, expressive movement, and audiation-centered learning into one immersive journey. Designed to grow with the student year after year, these volumes give teachers and parents tools to ignite creativity and deep music understanding across all tonalities and meters.

In Volume I and Volume II, embark upon a journey into audiation-based piano learning with a multi-level approach for beginning to intermediate students in group or private lessons. Rooted in the sequential learning process of Edwin Gordon's Music Learning Theory, this method fosters musical understanding through audiation on the path to music literacy.

Each song is presented in three to five levels, allowing students to progress at their own pace while developing a strong foundation in rhythm, melody, and harmony and enabling them to follow their unique musical intuition.

Travel to Nordic countries to meet polar bears, trolls and puffins, sail on a viking ship and sled over the "Hills of Finland.” Follow a step-by-step method to audiate rhythm, melody and harmony patterns before playing the songs. Deepen your adventure with singing and rhythm chanting, discovering chord roots and exploring additional piano skills. Do all this while learning about the folklore, wildlife and habitats of Nordic countries through the story cards and a recommended reading list of classic children's books. 

Volume I is 130 pages. Volume II is 167 pages. Both books have 15 pages of notation paper for students to easily work on the activities in the Notational Audiation Guides as well as their own creative projects.

The Creative Keys: Nordic Adventures Story Cards feature enchanting watercolor illustrations of the beloved characters from the series. On the back of each card, you’ll find a short, whimsical story paired with a playful call-and-response that invites children to help complete the tale. These beautifully crafted cards encourage kids to step into the story, interact with the characters, and use their imaginations to create adventures of their own—fostering creative expression and meaningful connection through music and play

One set of 14 cards includes all the characters children will meet in Volume I and Volume II. Illustrations by Addie McElwee and Riley Moody.
